The plantation spanned 5,400 acres and employed over a hundred slaves in the late 1800s. On the land, a winery and visitors' center have been built. Original outbuildings have been preserved, including the Harding Cabin where Belle Meade originated, a Dairy, a Gardener's House, a Carriage and Stable House built in 1892, one of Tennessee's largest Smokehouses, and a Mausoleum.
