Harpeth River State Park is a state park in Tennessee's Cheatham and Davidson counties, in the southeastern United States. The park is a linear park that runs along the lower Harpeth River and connects various state historic, natural, and archaeological sites. The Narrows of the Harpeth, an incised bend in the river, and the Montgomery Bell Tunnel, a national historic site, are both part of the park. The archaeological sites of Mound Bottom and Mace Bluff, as well as Newsom's Mill Historic Site, the Gossett Tract State Natural Area, and a stretch of property at Hidden Lakes, are all part of the park.
Depending on how fast you paddle and the water conditions, you could complete in 4 or 5 hours. This voyage begins at the Hwy. 70 Bridge in Foggy Bottom, continues through Mound Bottom and the Narrows of the Harpeth State Park region, and concludes at the Harris Street Bridge.
Excessive growth of algae, particularly blue-green algae, or cyanobacteria, is the most serious danger to water quality in the Harpeth River. In 2015, it was revealed that at least one cyanobacteria genus is already flourishing in the River.
The Narrows of the Harpeth Path is a 1.1-mile out-and-back trail with a river that is suitable for all ability levels and is located in Kingston Springs, Tennessee. This trail is also open to dogs, although they must be kept on a leash.
